To be honest, I expected to hate my blythe until I'd customised her, but I don't. After I dressed her and cut her hair a bit, and bravely corrected her gaze by strictly following a youtube tutorial, I could almost keep her like this. I have her sitting next to me with real character. She's got this curious and know-it-all smile and she's pretty damn charming. But hey, I like customising :P
I didn't expect my Blythe until well after my Momoko. I ordered them within a day of each other, both from Hong Kong, but my Momoko was travelling by EMS, and my Blythe didn't ship until three days after the other. They arrived within a day of each other! I got a huge surprise this morning when her box was waiting for me this morning.
I got the cheapest Blythe I could find on eBay - a Simply Vanilla. I knew i'd be customising her and so theoretically nothing about her stock appearance mattered. Except that she had to be an FBL - a Fairest Blythe. I don't know what it is but I like them a bit more than the other molds, though there wasn't really much I could tell apart in the beginning I knew that all of my favourite girls on Flickr ended up being FBLs.
I'd seen a boxed Blythe before. I actually went down to Shin Tokyo, Adelaide's... otaku store? and they had a few there, including the SV. It was about $50 more expensive than I paid, at about $150 (I paid $99 including shipping). If I had of known beforehand I honestly would have bought her there instead. In future I wouldn't mind spending that extra money just so I could see the girl before I bought her, get her sooner, and not have to worry about postage, and be able to take her back if something was damaged. They also said they could get in any release (provided it isn't an exclusive) and they also have middies!
So this was the first time I'd ever held and moved a Blythe doll.
This is straight out of the box, but after I put the tights on. Blythes have very... sticky? legs, and it's hard to slide pants up them. They remind me of old barbies, but stickier. Rubbery, maybe?
After I went and got one of my parcels that had been waiting for me at the post office, I came back and dressed my two new girls in my jiajiadoll spoils! They're such gorgeous clothes and well worth the money. I bought them to fit my Nippon Amelie and Dynamite Girls, because I figured it's always easier to pin back clothes that are too big, than it is to try and force something on that is way too small. So this top is tied back at the straps, but it fits Momoko okay, just a bit loose. The shorts fit perfectly but you can't see them all that well. The dress's hooks just don't stay together so I'll have to figure out house to keep that closed. At the moment it's done by a belt. I tried it on both Daphne, my Amelie, and Honey, my Misaki, I'll post those in a moment.
For now, you get Glossum, or Gloss, my Simply Vanilla Blythe, wearing a JiaJia top, Mimi collection Momoko pants, and Sekiguchi boots, with her fringe/bangs cut a bit more to my tastes.
You may not be able to tell as the angles are different, but I also corrected Glossum's gaze, and she looks far less possessed now. It was very easy to do too, I followed this tutorial on youtube.
This is Glossum looking a lot better now after her eyes are in a bit better position. Far less O_O. I'm already totally smitten with her. I've already put Honey aside lol.
I am glad I waited to get a Blythe. I'd always wondered about them and thought about getting one to 'try on' but I didn't really like them. They really grew on me over the years, especially some of the custom girls, and I was super excited to get one in the end. She's fantastsic.
Speaking of Honey, here are the two new girls together in the new roombox. Honey is on the left, wearing her JiaJia stuff, thought it's a bit mismatched.
As for the roombox, I got all my supplies together and decided to do something so that my JerryBerry Sleeping Penny had somewhere to hang out.
The is the above mentioned girl. I'm not sure on a name yet. She'll be blonde though, I have a thing for blondes with dark eyes. So that kind of wig I think, but an ash blonde. And maybe other colours occasionally, because that's fun.
She should be about two weeks away.
So this is the roombox all together.
The white wall will probably end up the same pink as the other, but without the feature wall. The white box will become a shelving unit, and I've also got a daybed on the way to use somewhere.
I made the table, which I've yet to paint.
It's made from balsa wood and I used sewing pins as nails.
This window I got from one of the many miniature sites out there. First i painted it a very dark brown several times with watery paint. The I gave it a spray with white spray paint, let it dry, and roughly sanded parts of it to look kind of 'shabby chic'. Super happy with it. I also glued plastic to the outside. The shelf above is from the same place as the window.
Look at that face, she's such a cutie!
And Levi, Doll Overlord, is a bit hesitant to welcome his fuzzy guest. Fuzzy guest is clearly not intimidated by an Overlord who is dressed as Alice in Wonderland.
And lastly, here is Daphne, my YeYe Amelie, as well as Levi playing with one of his puppy minions.
This box if more for my cute dolls, rather than my fashion doll crew. At the moment I have my Momoko, Obitsu, Blythe, and my JerryBerry in mind. I can't wait to have it all together, and I can't wait to have my cutesies all together! I'm super happy with my new girls, I really hope my JerryBerry will be just as pleasing.
Thanks for reading! <3
